Putting the Pieces Together
The Arthur Family Story
Our family history focuses on the union of William and Roberta (Watkins)** Arthur and their eight offspring. The family has its roots in the
Anderson County, Texas, and Riggold, Louisiana. They are the roots from which our branches of the Arthur family grow.
What has helped to make our family a proud family is in part our fortune of having elders pass down the factual stories that provides the basis for our family
history and geneology.
The Arthur Family history is one grounded in its beginning from a farming family. Through the years, skills and professions have grown to include
nearly any career imaginable.
Much like our family grown, our history has as well with a plethora stories and tales that have been passed down from generation to generation. To continue
to preserve that history, please continue to pass along some of the stories and tales of our family.
The Arthur Family
Today & Tomorrow
Today, the Arthur’s are scattered far and wide, though they continue to reside in the Dallas area, Houston area, Palestine, and San Antonio, Texas in large numbers. Estimates place the number of Arthur descendants at more than 200 living.
George Arthur, son of Frank Arthur, was determined to bring this large family together. He began by hosting the 1st Arthur Family Reunion in Palestine, Texas, in 2009.
The 2009 Arthur Family Reunion marked the first time all of the descendants of William & Roberta Arthur had the opportunity to meet. It was three days of fun. George Arthur and his siblings did a marvelous job and an excellent time was had by all.
Now that these ties have been discovered and documented, the future holds many opportunities for more family gatherings. Reunions present the perfect chance to gain a sense of who we are, to develop a sense of family unity, and to pass those ties on to future generations.
The Arthur Family History is a work in continuous progress.
As we uncover new historical documents and anecdotes from family elders,
adjustments will continue to be made.
